Installation
Installation is taking all of the
hardware, software and network out of the boxes, and setting it up to perform
the functions that you need. Although this may seem pretty straightforward,
there are a lot of subtle issues, including:
- Did you inventory everything that you ordered,
making sure that there were no substitutions
- Did you retain all the documentation,
software licenses and CDs for future use
- Did you make sure that all of the hardware was properly installed and tested for operation
- Did you make sure that the software
installation options selected were correct, and the software was all properly installed and tested
- Did you make sure that you registered the
hardware warranties
- Did you make sure that all software was
properly licensed and registered
- Did you make sure that the security has
been set up properly so that unauthorized users cannot use or harm your systems,
either locally or over the network
To summarize, your systems need to be installed
properly to make sure that they are able to meet the requirements that you want
them to perform, now and in the future.
After installation, you may want to investigate getting some Training to get the most from your investments.
If your requirements change, you may need to carry out some Moves, Adds or Changes.
If your hardware or software stops working properly, you may want to have some Repairs carried out.
