Product Selection
The target Architecture developed in the last step describes the hardware, software and network
components that need to be added or changed to meet your requirements. However, a good architecture does NOT specify the specific make and model or vendor of the hardware, software and network components.
This gives you the flexibility to select the hardware, software and network components which meet the architectural characteristics and which represent the best value at the time of procurement. There are, of course, some subtleties like compatibility that need to be taken into account. As an independent consultant, I do not carry a large stock of computer hardware, software and network components, however I have established relationships with vendors in the area and can assist you with product selection and procurement. After product selection and procurement, the next step is Installation. Copyright © Eric Pierce 2006,7
